The Clerk’s Office of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Alabama is accepting applications from qualified applicants for the position of Information Systems Manager. The clerk’s office supports two bankruptcy judges and serves 23 counties in Alabama. The primary office is in Montgomery with satellite offices in Opelika and Dothan.

POSITION OVERVIEW – The Information Systems Manager (ISM) is responsible for overseeing IT support and IT security for the bankruptcy court, including judges, chambers staff, and the clerk’s office. The ISM’s primary role is to ensure IT resources are effectively used to meet the strategic needs of the court. The ISM is responsible for the planning, development, acquisition, application, implementation, operation, maintenance, and security of all computer systems, equipment, and networks operating within the court. The ISM reports to the clerk and will work with managers and judges to identify best practices to support technology solutions that will enhance productivity and raise the level of service offered to internal and external customers. The ISM is responsible for all aspects of information technology, including but not limited to development of IT policies, overseeing networks, servers, desktops, mobile devices, training, telecommunications, courtroom technology, information security, quality control, and data retrieval systems. The ISM is also responsible for planning and policy making and for the development and management of the automation budget and spending plan. The ISM supervises a team of technical professionals and oversees the day-to-day operation of all information systems and related equipment throughout the court.

The chief deputy clerk is a senior management position which reports directly to the clerk of court and acts on behalf of the clerk of court during the clerk of court’s absence. The Bankruptcy clerk’s office has 24 employees and supports two bankruptcy judges. The chief deputy clerk assists in the administration and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the clerk’s office, including case management, courtroom services, statistical analysis, statistical reporting, information technology, financial management, budget, space and facilities, procurement, and human resources. The chief deputy clerk is the alternate certifying officer for the Court. The Middle District of Alabama also has two other divisions (unmanned)—one in Opelika, Alabama, and one in Dothan, Alabama. Travel throughout the district is required. Additional travel may be required to Washington, DC, and to other locations.

The United States District Court for the Western District of Washington is seeking a dynamic, inspiring, and effective leader for the position of Clerk of Court / District Court Executive. This is an executive-level management position, responsible for operational and administrative management of the Court. The Clerk of Court collaborates with other districts within the Ninth Circuit and the Administrative Office on a national level.

The Western District of Washington covers the area west of the Cascade Mountains and from Oregon to the Canadian border, with courthouses in Seattle and Tacoma. The office serves eighteen U.S. District Judges (active and senior), and nine Magistrate Judges. The Clerk of Court serves under the direction of the Chief District Judge and is responsible for performing the statutory duties of the Office of the Clerk pursuant to 28 U.S.C. §751.

The Clerk of Court acts as liaison and works cooperatively with other federal and local government agencies, bar groups, media representatives, and the public. The Clerk of Court provides leadership and direction to approximately 50 staff members of the Clerk’s Office, which is organized in a non-hierarchical team-based structure.

The Western District of Washington is a Shared Services district. The 24 employees in Shared Services (IT, Human Resources, Budget, Procurement, Space and Facilities) are employees of both the District Court and Probation and Pretrial Services. The Clerk of Court and Chief Probation and Pretrial Services Officer co-manage Shared Services. This position will require frequent travel within the district to both the Seattle and Tacoma courthouses, as well as regular out of district travel for national and Ninth Circuit meetings and conferences.

  • Summary entries of all documents and proceedings on the docket.

  • Performs inquiries and furnishes information, either in person or by correspondence, as to the status of cases.
